During my last year of school, I was able to intern around the Jackson area and I started coming to JYP meetings during that time. I then decided to take a job in Jackson after graduation and have been coming to JYP functions since! I was initially interested in joining JYP to learn more about the Jackson community and make connections with other young professionals. Despite growing up here, there are a lot of things I am still learning about the Jackson community today, and I credit JYP for the positive experiences I have had thus far. During my schooling, I realized being from Jackson does not always come with a positive connotation. However, I believe Jackson is moving in the right direction because of all the hard work and influence JYP and other organizations have had on the Jackson area. The forward progress is encouraging to me and I would like to contribute to making Jackson a desirable place to live, work and play.
